Inventor Jerome Case founded the company of CASE in Racine, when he started the construction of threshing machinery. Later the business gained recognition globally as the initial manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural use. By 1912, Case had become established in the construction machine business. The quickly began to manufacture road building machinery like graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machinery business through different acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading manufacturer of medium-sized to light-sized construction machinery.
During 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This company became responsible for marketing some of the globe's leading brands of agricultural and construction machines.
