A kind of machinery in the material handling industry which can be used to raise and move loads from one place to another is referred to as a forklift. Every forklift part has a particular function. Various components could be utilized to move the load either horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The components used to lift and lower the load is called the forklift mast. There are various kinds of masts for lifting loads to different heights: simplex, duplex, triplex and quad.
Power Supply
There are four different ways you can power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is located inside the cab under the seat. The propane tank is located on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is under the back of the truck.
Cab
Positioned in the center of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The gas pedal, steering wheel, brake, lifting controls and tilting controls are all located in the cab.
Frame
The truck frame carries all the largest components of the forklift, including the counterweights, which are located at the rear to stop the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
