Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries in the year 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was utilized to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism really impressed lots of customers and hence, the name was born.
Genie has moved into numerous new markets, since the demand for lifts and work platforms grew. Over time, as the demand for new machinery to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For example, Genie went into making stick booms, telehandlers, articulated booms, light towers and man-lifts.
Due to the economic downturn during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who held the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers all over the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the early years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie machinery continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their clients. Genie has always been continually dedicated to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machinery.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machines are emission-free, quiet machines capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the machinery has to be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC machine together with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
As opposed to any of the different types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach overall. These equipment are ideal for limited access areas in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These machines deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you require to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
