Various Types of Aerial Lift
Aerial lifts are a particular kind of heavy machine that enables employees to be raised into the air. These machines can be used to perform maintenance and repairs in areas which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Similar to the majority of devices, there are different models of aerial lifts that can be used to perform different jobs. For the utmost safety, each and every kind of different kind of machinery requires right training and specific qualifications prior to operation.
Scissor Lifts
Genie lifts are another name for scissor lifts. These equipment are the most basic type of aerial lift available. These lifts are made of a platform that is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mainly used indoors. Normally, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven like large carts. Normally, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone can use these tools, workers need to be licensed as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are much more complicated kind of aerial lift equipment. A boom lift has a wide base in order to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket which enables the operator to lower and raise the bucket. Since the arm of the boom is jointed, it could move from side to side also. The boom lift looks like a metal scorpion's tail. Traditionally, it is used in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run than scissor lifts, hence, operators should be licensed separately for these kinds of lifts.
