How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, since the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind when attempting to carry out tasks which could have otherwise needed utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right choice for performing tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries would need to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any specialized tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machine near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button found near the charger or the control box, in the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, older units will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger could likely happen.
