When the time comes to pick the appropriate warehouse truck, it is a great idea to figure out how high you plan to raise your cargo, how much you need to lift, how much space you need to work in and how far you want to travel. These factors will truly affect your buying decision and help decipher what kind of forklift truck is the ideal one out there to meet your requirements and meet your whole expectations.
Normal Aisles
The most cost-effective trucks are pedestrian stackers. These machines are great for working in standard width aisles and completing ordinary stacking tasks inside a warehouse. They are capable of easily raising loads of less than 750kg and be able to stack them to heights of about 4.5 metres. One more type called rider stackers could successfully raise loads to around 6 metres.
Yet a different alternative to think about are reach trucks as they offer much greater load and lift capacities, whereas several models complete with telescopic forks. This characteristic allows you the ability to stack pallets two deep. For added flexibility in handling goods, there is a 4-way and a multi-way reach truck that as the name implies, can be driven in four directions. These models are particularly great for handling long and bulky things like planks, boards and piping.
Counterbalance trucks are best suited for traveling longer distance and are a great choice for stacking jobs, particularly block stacking. They are also an ideal alternative for free stacking and stacking loads which weigh over 2 tonnes.
A Tight Squeeze
If you are working in a high-density storage operation, the aisle space would normally be a lot narrower and the heights you will want to reach to will likely be much higher. Man-up telescopic lift trucks function great in high-bay, narrow aisle stores. They provide the driver or operator a good view of the stacking process. There are other types referred to as man-up combi trucks. These are quite versatile in that they could be used for both order- picking and stacking jobs. They could be utilized in narrow aisles or driven throughout the warehouse.
