Types of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
Construction lifts are the machinery utilized to enable personnel to locate high-up locations without building any scaffolding. They are used to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common machinery found in factory and warehouse settings also.

Boom lifts would usually provide powered and wheeled bases that could drive itself to the work location and have a platform on them to elevate the workers. There are many different types of lifts and every one is suited to various types of tasks and settings.

Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks or cherry pickers, are built with a long boom which has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where an employee may stand. Usually, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers usually use these kinds of machinery to cut trees.

Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly which is mounted on a regular truck, and this means these lifts are able to travel on roads at regular traffic speeds. This mobility really increases the area they could effectively service. This is particularly vital for power companies. For example, many of these businesses utilize cherry pickers to elevate employees up so they can reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets should be frequently checked and correctly insulated since they are working near potential shock hazards.

Knuckle lifts or articulated boom lifts include a work platform mounted to an arm which can bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and can turn the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels also for extra mobility.

Articulated boom lifts are used for landscaping projects and are useful for maintenance work on already-finished projects which do not need easy access to the area right below the jobsite. These lifts can be used for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and hard to clean areas. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the employee in the platform with the boom extended.
