Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm that is situated on a rotating turntable. Usually, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for tasks which require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. Like for example, workers are able to perform exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but using these lifts as opposed to having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The bucket of the boom lift normally only holds one employee. These buckets are better suitable to specific jobs such as electrical repair, as opposed to window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires and come in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces under the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Because these equipment must be directly positioned below the work location, as opposed to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, however, provide bigger platforms which enable the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these kinds of machines, as they must sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for cladding or window installation, because they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle normally utilized to lift personnel for different jobs performed at heights. Generally, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and controls the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand along with an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for lifting.
Cherry pickers could lift employees up to heights that were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy supplies and equipment for one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types that could perform various purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at different jobs and are suitable for specific applications and accomplishing certain jobs.
