Monitoring the angle, weight and boom height, there are load charts on this equipment to outline which tasks can be safely conducted. Updated telehandler models have computers and sensors. When the telehandler limits have been surpassed, the operator is cut off and warned from supplying further control input. The lifting capacity is enhanced by front stabilizers that maximize the lifting capacity from a stationary position. A mobile crane can also use a bucket is another option consisting of a stabilized rotary joint found between upper and lower frames. There are many models of telehandlers differing in size, weight, boom designs and reach. If the machine weighs in at eleven thousand pounds or less, it can be part of the compact category. Compact units have a two-stage boom compared to larger machines that feature three or four boom designs. A low pivot boom ensures better operator visibility for transporting loads on compact units. The compact units offer a reach capacity between thirteen to twenty feet and a lifting capacity ranging from five thousand to seven thousand pounds. These versatile machines make the compact telehandler extremely popular. Telehandlers can function as a pick and place unit or a tool carrier. This machine is often used in locations that are cramped and tight. It is common for contractors to use this machine during framing and for residential jobs where there are height restrictions. Telehandlers can enter internal building access in hard-to-reach locations. Compact telehandlers are commonly used in nurseries, landscaping, multi-story construction, building strip malls and garages, masonry, erecting steel and more. Agri-business and farming applications rely on telehandlers for a variety of jobs. Telehandlers are made with two or four-wheel drive as well as crab steering. This machine can traverse longer distances with two-wheel drive at higher speeds to facilitate easy travel between worksites. The 4-WD units are capable of having a tighter turning radius and can travel difficult terrain. Ground engaging work is often completed by compact units. Adding a bucket attachment can make a compact telehandler transform into a mini excavator. There are popular attachments including brooms for sweeping, truss booms for extended reach, side-shifting and rotating fork carriages, heavy and light-duty buckets, augers for planting trees or digging holes and many items.
