Manitou Forklifts Minnesota
Frequent inspections can greatly help to lessen forklift repairs and save you copious amounts of money eventually. The standing joke within the business is a forklift technician coining the saying "Pay me now, or pay me later," since it usually costs more to procrastinate when it comes to lift trucks. For example, the minor fixes that go unrepaired could eventually turn into costly repairs.
Tilt Cylinders
Oil leaks are a very serious issue if they are left unchecked. Check for damage or oil leaks regularly. Oil leakage could cause uncontrolled mast movement and this could be very unsafe. Whether the leaks are outside or in the cylinder, the end result can result in loss of vital fluid and cylinder drift. When leaks or damage are detected, you typically will need to replace the entire cylinder assembly or the seals.
Chains
You don't want mast lift chains to stretch beyond acceptable limits, so pay attention and look carefully for any signs of damage or wear and tear. Check regularly with a chain wear gauge so as to monitor the wear. If the chain is worn beyond 2 percent or rusted, you must replace the chain. Following these guidelines would help keep your equipment functioning optimally.
Mast
When utilizing the lift control lever, the mast needs to be moved down and up smoothly, making sure to check if the mast is moving smoothly backwards and forwards. You may have to lubricate the mast strip sliding surfaces if the sliding surfaces are binding. Also lubricate their fittings, because there is a fitting located on both sides of the inner mast. The lift bracket side rollers are one more lubrication spot.
Forks
The forks have to be inspected for cracks, damage and wear as worn or cracked forks could fail with out any warnings. Of course, any damaged fork means taking the truck out of service right away. If the cracks are deeper than just on the surface, they must be replaced since they truly can't be safely fixed.
